Who invented the vape?
The first patent for a ‘smokeless cigarette’ was filed by Herbert Gilbert in 1963. However, the patent expired before Gilbert ever produced a commercially viable vaporizer. In 2003, Hon Lik, a Chinese pharmacist, invented and patented a small electronic cigarette. While the vaporizers that we use now are a lot different, this was the start of the vaping revolution that has swept across the globe.

Now, we have thousands of different types of vaporizers available to choose from, and there’s one to suit every type of vaporizer. The earliest vaporizers were all disposable ‘cig-a-like’ devices that you still see for sale in gas stations and convenience stores. Vaping has come a long way since then, but those early vaporizers are still available and widely used.
Those early pen vaporizers led to a variety of larger, more powerful vaporizers such as box mods, sub-ohm mods, and custom mods for pumping out vast amounts of vapor. While all of these vaporizers can seem daunting to a beginner, they all operate in basically the same way except on an increasing scale.
