Are you curious about what Delta 8 is and what the difference between it and CBD is? Then you have come to the right place!
Delta 9, or THC as its commonly known, is probably one of the cannabinoids that you’re familiar with along with cannabidiol (CBD), but have you heard about another cannabinoid Delta 8? In the following article, we’re going to take a closer look at what the difference between Delta 8 and CBD is.
While all three are cannabinoids, Delta 8 is produced by isolating THC. Delta 8 relies on a man-man process to be created. All three compounds may be cannabinoids, but CBD is hugely different than both Delta 8 and THC. CBD contains no psychoactive compounds and won’t get you that traditional ‘high’ you’ll experience using THC.
Over the last decade, a lot of research has been conducted into CBD and THC. In fact, these two compounds have been extensively studied for the last fifty years. However, extraordinarily little is known about Delta 8.
Like both THC and CBD, Delta 8 shows a lot of promise in the areas of sleep, insomnia, anxiety, depression, lack of appetite, and many other mental health issues. Delta 8 is closer to THC than CBD, but all three are cannabinoids. While they are both similar and both cannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), Delta 8 and THC influence it differently.
Delta 8 combines on the eighth carbon change while Delta 9 combines on the ninth carbon chain. It’s this difference that dictates how they both influence the ECS. This small change in the molecular structure of Delta 8 makes it appear to be more stable than Delta 9 while also being slightly less potent. For people that don’t enjoy the anxiousness and paranoia associated with strong THC cannabis products, Delta 8 may be a more suitable option.
We still have a lot to learn about Delta 8 before we can make any definitive claims, but as one of the newest cannabinoids to be discovered, it is showing a lot of potentials.
