What’s the difference between smoking and vaping?
Before we had vaping and vaporizers, the only way to enjoy cannabis was with a pipe, joint, or bong. Now, with the invention of vaping, we have another alternative that doesn’t involve inhaling smoke. Overall, many people consider that vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking.
Around the world, people are always searching for healthier ways to do the things they enjoy. Many people believe that vaping gives you all the benefits of medical marijuana, without the health risks associated with smoking and inhaling carcinogens.
When you vape, the high you experience is slightly different from smoking, so whether you vape or smoke will come down to your personal lifestyle choices.
Smoking Cannabis
While we are all aware smoking cigarettes can lead to the release of potentially life-threatening carcinogens, smoking cannabis isn’t exactly the same. When you smoke cigarettes, it releases polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are pre-carcinogens. Smoking cannabis releases the same PAHs, but some studies have shown that they aren’t exposed to the same enzymatic activity, which converts them to carcinogens. So, although smoking cannabis may not be as bad as smoking cigarettes, there are still some risks associated.
The high you get from smoking cannabis is usually intense, despite the fact that the cannabis is heated much higher than required to release the cannabinoids and terpenes. It’s also one of the easiest ways for irregular users to use cannabis because it doesn’t require the purchase of a vaporizer.
Vaping Cannabis
There are a variety of different vaporizers, but they fall into two main types. Those designed for vaping fresh cannabis flower and those designed for oils, liquids, and other concentrates. Some vaporizers can be utilized for all types of cannabis products, while others are type-specific.
Vaporizers heat the fresh flower to where cannabinoids and terpenes are released, but below the combustion point. Cannabis begins vaporizing at 157 °C (314 °F). The vapor inhaled is much less dense than that of smoking cannabis but results in a similar high. For frequent cannabis users, vaping may be a healthier option than smoking, but ultimately, it’s up to you which method you choose.
