There are a variety of different vaporizers available to choose from, and ultimately you need to choose a vaporizer that suits you. Every type has advantages and disadvantages.
Vaporizers to start with include:
- Pen Style – Basic pen-style vaporizers with disposable tanks and coils. You buy cartridges that are already pre-filled with e-liquid, and when the tank is empty, you throw it away and grab another tank.
- Pod Systems – Pod systems are smaller than pen-style vaporizers and come with a variety of different options, including draw-activated and replaceable coils.
- Box Mods – Box mods are larger vaporizers that usually contain 1-2 18650 batteries. They are more powerful than pod systems and pen-style vapes and allow you to replace coils and refill your tank with e-liquid.
- Sub-Ohm Box Mods – Sub-ohm vaporizers allow you to get into vaping at higher amps and also produce more vapor. You can buy atomizers with build decks and posts that allow you to build your coils and pump out big clouds of vapor.
- Mechanical Mods – Mechanical mods are vaporizers that lack no safety devices such as chips or circuit boards. When you hit the firing button, it completes the circuit and sends current directly from the battery to the coil. Mech mods aren’t recommended for beginner vapers and people that don’t have a strong understanding of Ohm’s law as there are no safety features with mech mods.
